_MG_3171Last Saturday our BFI Film Academy South East Scotland participants transformed Waverly Court into what looked like a friends’ gathering in the America of the 60s.

Wigs apart, the crew started filming ‘Bigwigs Be Gone’ and despite the adverse weather conditions, their spirit and energy remained high once all were on set.

_MG_3195Trained as they are in storytelling, acting and all areas of production, the youngsters displayed a remarkable professionalism.

Jamie McCarron told us:

It was a great experience. I’m learning a lot and I hope to move on to do bigger things.

The BFI Film Academy Scotland not only offers the opportunity for young people with an interest in filmmaking to reach their first achievements and support them on route to their favoured careers, but also gives them the chance to take roles they hadn’t experienced before.

Being on set gives you useful skills as a filmmaker. When you’re an actor (As I am), more than often you are on the back room waiting until everything is ready. Michael Shaw
