We are delighted to announce that BFI Film Academy participants Edward Kondracki and Jamie Thomson (who started with a Princes Trust programme we ran called Get Started in Media) have been selected for the BFI Craft Skills Residential at the NFTS, taking place this coming Easter.

Competition for places on the NFTS Residential was fierce, with, for example, over 150 people applying for the camera placements with only 8 positions available. We are thrilled that Eddie and Jamie secured a place and we know that it will be a big step forward for their careers.

They just came back from the pre-residential weekend all excited, in which they could get used to other participants and the main setting of the Craft Residential. The boys worked with their tutors on interpreting the script and agreeing a shooting script, as well as meeting people like Noel Clarke!

The Main Craft Residential will take place from 29 March to 9 April. NFTS tutors will lead craft specialist workshops for groups and there will be presentations and panels on the specialisms they chose to do: Cinematography in the case of Eddie and Sound Mixing and Recording in the case of Jamie; followed by group work planning, shooting on location and editing in order to complete a film.

Here we have a video in which the youngsters talk about how they made it to the Craft Residential and their experience at Screen Education Edinburgh. We wish them the best of luck from everyone here!
